Gogi Chagelishvili was born in 1945 and graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1971. He has since held solo exhibitions not only in Georgia but also in Turkey, Russia, France, Germany, Canada, the United States, and New Zealand. The artist’s literary debut took place in 2006, and in 2014, his second book was published, which won the prestigious “Saba” Award in the nomination for Best Prose Collection of the Year.
